Cornelia Thompson (Mrs. Homer Thompson)

Mrs. Homer Thompson was a long-time business woman who owned a millinery shop on the Bonham square. She operated the shop for 53 years. She was a charter member of the Bonham Business & Professional Women’s Club.

She was known for the hats she fashioned. She often made trips to St. Louis, Chicago and New York where she bought supplies and learned the latest styles.

Busy seasons were before Easter and during wedding months. As many as 14 young women worked in the shop during this time.

Ms. Thompson’s daughter was Lucille Hackley, who was also a local business woman.

The Fannin County Museum of History has a wonderful collection of hats from local Fannin County women. Visit to the Museum to see this collection.
